Greetings everyone!
My name is Ms. Mallory, the new Pre-K teacher for the upcoming months while Mrs. Gerardi is out. If you have any questions my email is: mmcclafferty.teach@gmail.com
Never hesitate to reach out, I love hearing from and working with the parents of my students.

Week of 1/8-1/12
This week, we will be learning about the letter "J"! We will build a "J" Jellyfish, and create our own book all about this joyous letter. The children will be identifying the letter and the sound it makes, writing the letter, and learning what objects in our classroom start with letter "J".

The number of the week is "9". Our class will be learning to identify the number and writing the number. We will feed penguins 9 gold fish, and build snowmen 9 snowballs tall.

Aside from our prayer that we say daily before snack, the children began learning a prayer to start their school day.
"We give our thanks to Thee today,
For Thou has blessed us in every way.
Help us to do the things we should,
to be to others kind and good.  Amen."

Letters and Numbers
Each week, we will learn all about a new letter and number. The children will be able to differentiate between capital and lowercase, tell the sound the letter makes, identify words that begin with the letter, etc...

The children will also be able to count, write, and use 1:1 correspondence for the new number each week.

Happily Ever After
"The Elves and the Showmakers"
During this unit, we will be learning about colors blue, green, and red.
The children will learn the concept of helping a friend.
The children will practice listening comprehension skills, create their own story books and practice following along with a story.

We will be creating our own shoe museum for this unit. A letter will be sent home from the shoe maker requesting each student bring in 1 old shoe (the student does not wear anymore). We will be decorating the shoes just like the elves do: this means fairy dust, gems, buttons, and ribbon!

Handwriting Without Tears
The children will soon begin to learn the formation of letters.  Each lesson, they will have small group guided instruction on the formation of the letters, and then will have time to practice in their workbooks.

A few things to remember about our class....

-In order to come into the classroom you MUST be VIRTUS trained.
-While making the transition into school an easy one, we ask that you please not send you child into school with any toys.
-Snack must be sent in from home, and please keep in mind there there is no refrigerator or microwave available.  The AM and PM class each need one snack and a drink. The FULL day class needs 2 snacks with 2 drinks, and also a lunch with a drink.
